Used Mercedes-Benz Vito van finance for UK limited companies

The Mercedes-Benz Vito for firms that carry people and kit

The Vito is the Sprinter’s smaller sibling, a premium medium van that suits businesses where the vehicle represents the company. Contractors, caterers and event suppliers choose it for the cab quality and the range of body styles. Beyond the panel van there are crew and passenger versions, and that variety affects how the finance is arranged.

The panel van, the Dualiner crew van and the passenger-carrying Tourer can be treated differently by lenders and by HMRC. Make sure you know which you are looking at and how it is registered before you agree to buy. It affects the finance and the tax treatment, and the V5C will tell you.

Tell us whether you want a panel van, a Dualiner crew van or a Tourer, and how it will be used, because each can be assessed differently. We will say what looks realistic before any full application. Finance is subject to status.

Vito body styles, payload and checks

  • Body styles: panel van, the Dualiner crew van with a second row of seats behind the cab, and the Tourer passenger version, in compact, long and extra-long lengths.
  • Payload: up to roughly 1,000 kg on the panel van, and lower on crew and passenger versions because the seats and glazing take weight.
  • Drive: front-wheel drive on the smaller-engined vans and rear-wheel drive on the larger ones, with four-wheel drive also offered. Rear-wheel drive is favoured by those towing or carrying heavier loads.
  • Generation: the W447 has been the Vito since 2014, updated with newer diesels, a nine-speed automatic and refreshed cabins, and an electric eVito is also available.
  • What to check: service history, clutch and automatic gearbox behaviour, the sliding door mechanisms, and any signs of heavy use as a minicab or courier van.

Used Vito prices and monthly cost

A used Mercedes-Benz Vito typically sells for around £8,000 to £26,000. Mileage and age matter, and a Dualiner or an automatic tends to cost more than a basic manual panel van. With a £10,000 minimum lend, excluding VAT and after deposit, vans below roughly £12,000 at the bottom of that range will not qualify.

With a Vito at about £15,000 and £2,000 paid up front, you would finance £13,000. Representative example: borrow £13,000 over 48 months at 9.9% APR representative. 48 monthly payments of £326.46, total payable £15,670.08 (excluding deposit and fees). Illustrative only and subject to status. You can swap in your own Vito figures using the van finance calculator.

VAT and classification on a Vito

VAT depends on how the vehicle is classified as well as how it is sold. A panel van with VAT on the invoice is usually straightforward for a VAT-registered business. A Tourer or other passenger version may be treated as a car for VAT, which can limit what you can reclaim, so confirm with your accountant before you commit. See our VAT on used vans guide and the van, pickup and crew van tax guide.

Finance routes for a premium medium van

A hire purchase agreement suits a Vito you will keep as your main vehicle. If it works as a client-facing vehicle that you replace regularly, a lease can keep the monthly cost predictable. A younger Vito with moderate mileage and a full service history generally has the widest choice of lenders. Leasing is only available on some used vans, so ask about the one you choose.

FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we hear most, on eligibility, credit checks and how the process works.

Is there a newer Vito on the way, and does it matter for used prices?
Mercedes-Benz has announced a new generation of mid-size vans on new platforms, starting with an electric model in 2026. The W447 Vito, refreshed more than once since 2014, remains the van you will find used. Check the year and specification of the exact van, because equipment and engines differ between updates.
Can I finance a Vito Tourer or Dualiner through my company?
Possibly, subject to status, but these versions are classified differently from a panel van and lenders and HMRC may treat them differently. If the vehicle will carry fare-paying passengers, tell us, because passenger transport is assessed differently. See our crew van finance page.
Is a front-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive Vito better for towing?
Rear-wheel drive is generally preferred for towing and heavier loads, while front-wheel drive suits lighter daily work. Lenders care more about age, mileage and condition than the drive layout, so choose by use.
Is a Vito cheaper to run than a Sprinter?
Usually, because it is smaller and lighter, though the gap depends on the engine, the load and the miles. A Vito suits daily driving and lighter loads, while a Sprinter suits heavier work.
