Used Vauxhall Vivaro van finance for UK limited companies

The Vauxhall Vivaro for installers, tradespeople and fleet buyers

The Vivaro is Vauxhall’s medium van and has been on sale in the UK since 2001, so there is a wide choice of used vans, including many that started life with councils and utility firms. Electricians, plumbers and installers use it, and it is often cheaper to buy used than a Transit Custom or Volkswagen Transporter of the same age, though prices vary van by van.

Be clear about which Vivaro you mean, because they are different vans. The first, sold from 2001 to 2014, was also a Trafic twin and is now usually priced below our minimum. The X82 built from 2014 to 2019 is a Trafic twin too, with Renault-built engines. The Vivaro from 2019 moved to the platform it shares with the Peugeot Expert, Citroën Dispatch and Toyota Proace, all now part of Stellantis. Quote the year and engine when you enquire, so we can match the right lender.

Start by checking the van’s price against our eligibility criteria. A short enquiry shows what looks realistic before any full application. Finance is subject to status.

Vivaro sizes, payload and what to check

  • Body sizes: standard and long versions, with roughly 5 to 6 cubic metres of load space on the current van and more on a high-roof X82. Van, crew and combi bodies are all sold.
  • Payload: up to roughly 1,400 kg on the strongest vans.
  • Generations: the X82 (2014 to 2019) with Renault-built diesels, and the current generation with Stellantis diesels. The electric version was sold as the Vivaro-e and later as the Vivaro Electric.
  • Emissions: check the Euro standard on the V5C if you drive into London or a Clean Air Zone, because earlier X82 vans may not meet the rules.
  • What to check: a full service history, the AdBlue and diesel particulate filter systems, and cab wear that suggests heavy ex-council or ex-utility use.

Vivaro prices and monthly cost

A used Vauxhall Vivaro typically sells for around £6,000 to £24,000, with older X82 vans at the lower end, recent vans at the top, and crew and automatic versions costing more. Our lenders will lend no less than £10,000 excluding VAT and after deposit, so older X82 vans priced below around £12,000 are out of range.

Picture a Vivaro at roughly £16,000 with £2,250 paid up front, which means financing £13,750. Representative example: amount of credit £13,750, term 48 months, 9.9% APR representative, 48 monthly payments of £345.29, total amount payable £16,573.92 (excluding deposit and fees). Illustrative only and subject to status. The calculator lets you test a Vivaro at your own numbers.

VAT on a used Vivaro

A Vivaro that has served a council, utility or leasing fleet usually comes with a clear paper trail, and the invoice will show whether VAT applies. If a dealer sold it under the margin scheme, there is no VAT to reclaim. Check before you agree a price, and use our VAT guide.

Agreement types for a working medium van

For a firm that keeps its Vivaro for years, hire purchase is the straightforward choice. A finance lease can reduce rentals, and leasing suits firms that like to hand back and change. If you are buying several vans at once for a team, our multi-van finance page explains how that works.

FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we hear most, on eligibility, credit checks and how the process works.

Is the Vivaro the same as the Dispatch, Expert and Proace?
Only the Vivaro from 2019. That van shares its platform with the Citroën Dispatch, Peugeot Expert and Toyota Proace, while the 2014 to 2019 Vivaro is a different van, related to the Renault Trafic. Compare our Dispatch and Trafic pages.
Is an ex-council Vivaro easy to finance?
It depends on the age, mileage and condition. Ex-council and utility vans often have a clear history but may have done high mileage, and lenders usually weigh both. Everything is subject to status.
Is there an electric Vivaro?
Yes, sold as the Vivaro-e and later the Vivaro Electric, so check which name a listing uses. Funding may be possible, subject to status, but the choice of lenders for used electric vans can be narrower. See electric van finance.
Is a Vivaro cheaper than a Transit Custom to finance?
A used Vivaro often costs less to buy, which means a smaller balance. Lenders compare age, mileage and condition, so compare actual vans rather than models, using the calculator.
